Long leather dog leash

Leash for small to large dogs, without wrist loop, made of soft leather and braided on one side with a bleed knot. Hand bevelled (broken edges are not sharp and sit better in the hand) with a brass or stainless steel clasping closure. Our leather leads are lovingly handmade from combined tanned leather.

With combined tanning, the leather is pre-tanned with chrome and then finished with a vegetable tanning to give it a special tensile strength and suppleness which cannot be achieved with pure vegetable tanning. Pure vegetable tanned leather that is dyed also stains strongly, which is not the case with this lead due to the mixed tanning.

We have decided to include leads made from combined tanning in our range, because the resources of vegetable-tanned round leather are limited and this mixed tanning is a much more environmentally friendly solution than lead made from plastic such as Biothane.

The leash doesn’t have a wrist loop to stop your dog from getting caught on branches or similar when out in nature. If you want to keep the end of the lead in your hand, tying simple knot at the end of the lead will give you a better grip and hold.

The leather comes from European cattle (sourced from slaughterhouses) and is tanned and processed in Europe.
