Leather dog harness | Grey

We asked ourselves what a sustainable dog harness could look like, did a lot of research and tried a lot out. For us, sustainable in this case means plastic-free above all, as well as durable, stable and with maximum comfort for the dog. It has to be able to withstand a lot, be robust but also beautiful. Not so easy, but we managed it.

Our harness made of edged oil double bend leather is particularly soft and therefore needs no extra padding. Due to the mixed tanning, it hardly absorbs any water, so it barely expands and won’t drip wet after a walk in the rain. The greased leather is pre-treated and therefore doesn’t need any extra care. The longer you use it, the softer and more supple the leather becomes.

• S: 60-70 cm belly circumference
• M: 65-81 cm belly circumference
• L: 76-92 cm belly circumference
• XL: 80-94 cm belly circumference

The chest/trunk circumference is measured at the widest point.

The harness is simply pulled over the head and closed with the two fasteners on the right and left side of the belly. There are 5 holes on each side at a distance of 2 cm, with which you can individually adjust the harness to the right size.

Care instructions: 
The harness does not need to be greased and can be cleaned with a damp cloth.

Material:

• Combined tanned fat leather, edged by hand (rounded edges are not sharp and lie softer on the dog's body).
• Fittings (eyelets, fasteners) made of brass or stainless steel
• Screwed rivets
• Leather thickness: approx. 4mm
• Leather width: 2.5 cm

With combined tanning, the leather is pre-tanned with chrome and then finished with a vegetable tanning to give it a special tensile strength and suppleness which cannot be achieved with pure vegetable tanning. Pure vegetable tanned leather that is dyed also stains strongly, which is not the case with this harness due to the mixed tanning.

What is stained leather?
 After cutting, the leather is sharp-edged at the interfaces and could injure (cut into) the dog's skin. That is why, with our harnesses, the sharp edges are rounded off so that the leather is soft and comfortable on the dog's body. The edging also ensures that the leather does not fray. Our harnesses are edged by hand.

The leather comes from European cattle (sourced from slaughterhouses) and is tanned and processed in Europe.
